Mookie Betts Becomes First Red Sox Leadoff Man to Hit Three Home Runs in a Game

Mookie Betts had himself a night in the Red Sox 6-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. A home run to lead off the game in the first inning. And then another in the second inning.  And then a third in the seventh inning. And Betts also added this phenomenal diving catch to top things off:

Dustin Pedroia followed Betts’ leadoff home run in the first with a home run of his own and Xander Bogaerts extended his hitting streak to 24-games as the Red Sox offense had yet another explosive night at the plate.

On the mound, Eduardo Rodriguez looked solid in his season debut as he earned the win in his six inning effort.  Craig Kimbrel, rebounding from his rocky performance over the weekend, had two strikeouts as he finished off the victory for the Red Sox in the ninth.

The storylines just keep coming for this Red Sox team.  Hopefully the best ones are saved for the end of October.
