I know everyone wants to criticize the NFL and Roger Goodell after seeing Tom Brady’s 4-game suspension and the Patriots losing a 2016 1st round pick, but hear me out because personally, I think this whole ordeal is going to benefit the Patriots in the long run.
It Won’t Stay at Four
First and foremost there is no chance that this suspension for Brady stays at four games. It’ll come down to two games, maybe three, after the appeal process. The NFL has made its statement and got the reaction it wanted. Not cooperating with investigations will get you screwed, but four (after Ray Rice gets two games initially) games is too much.
Patriots First 4 Games Last Season
Here are some statistics for you guys:
Week 1 at Miami – Brady: 29 for 56, 296 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INT in a LOSS
Week 2 at Minnesota – Brady: 14 for 21, 149 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INT in a win
Week 3 vs Oakland – Brady: 24 for 37, 234 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INT in a CLOSE win
Week 4 at Kansas City – Brady 14 for 23, 159 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INT in a BAD LOSS
Brady was alarmingly mediocre in the first three games and absolutely abysmal in that now infamous fourth game against Kansas City from last year. The Patriots struggled in their first four games last season and were still able to pull off the Super Bowl win in February (can’t thank Malcolm Butler enough). And Brady’s stats from the Super Bowl in Arizona?
Super Bowl against Seattle – Brady: 37 for 50, 328 yards, 4 TDs, 2 INTs and SUPER BOWL MVP
Super Bowls are not won in the first four weeks of the season last time I checked. But do you want to know the real reason why the Patriots pulled off an incredible stretch to end the regular season? Because nobody believed in them…
Now, Nobody Believes in the Patriots
The Patriots won the Super Bowl in 2001 because nobody believed in them. The line for the first game of the season against the Steelers is now essentially a pick ’em because nobody believes in the Patriots. We know that people fully anticipate the Pats to be in the AFC Championship next year, but it’s a fact that the Patriots thrive when Belichick convinces the guys in the locker room that nobody believes in them. It builds the best #teamchemistry
Once Again We Have a Pissed Off Brady
I think this picture pretty much sums it up…
I’ve seen the Brady 6 documentary about ten times now thanks to one of my friends being absolutely obsessed with it. In the documentary Brady, on more than one occasion talks about how much being picked in the 6th round motivated him and pushed him to prove the critics wrong. I think that’s the Brady we are going to get again this year for the first time in awhile and I’m PUMPED for it.
